Alternative coil for MegaJolt/Squirt applications

Accel has an EDIS coil suitable for MegaJolt usage. It even has the same bolt pattern for mounting, that is, if you have a Ford coil now it will be a direct bolt on. The connectors on the coil are different from the OEM Ford in that they do NOT have to two locking clips, however they coil does make a bit more spark, or so they claim.

I am having Taylor Ignition, an Accel company make up custom wires for me since I do not want to have to wrestle with the boots and crimpers needed to make my own.

You know, I've seen that one and the black one that Accel makes and I've thought about it, but for now my junkyard unit is working just fine. It's one of those things where, maybe if EVERYTHING else was done and it was the only thing left, or if the junkyard unit crapped out, sure I'd spend $60 on that, but for now, that $60 is better used in other places.

Let me know if there's a noticable improvement. I'll be interested to hear about how it works out!

Yeah, and I wanted to get some wires without those 6" long spark plug boots. I know I could have just bought some V8 wires and cut the ends off the long ones to fit, but I also wanted to get rid of the clips on the coil.

I have my coil mounted on the plug that covers up the distributor drive port on the block. Looks pretty good IMHO.....

Ooh, that sounds cool! I have my coil pack mounted up where the vacuum canister used to be which turned out to be a perfect length for the wires that came off of what I think I remember to be an early 90's Ford Probe 4-Cyl. I remember I spent quite a bit of time in the junkyard that day and I looked at every Ford EDIS-4 in the place and took parts from each, so it's a real mix-n-match.

I still haven't worked out a diz plug yet. I can't decide if I should just order one up from MRA Minis or if I should try to make my own. Right now I just have a rag stuffed in the hole.

IIRC I had an alloy plug turned down to fit into the dizzy shaft holder and sealed it in with this stuff: https://www.bergdahl.com/ps-870.htm I used the type B-1/2 sealant as i am familiar with it from my aerospace days. It is immune to most solvents when cured as well as oils and fuels. It also has excellent adhesive properties too.
