GT6 Facet Fuel Pump Alternative [GT6]

Almost have the GT6 ready to go, but the 42 year old mechanical pump isn't keeping up, so I was looking for an electric fuel pump to replace it.

I kept seeing recommendations for the Facet pump, and then the Carter (with a regulator). In both cases I would have to order it to get it in. So I went to see what my local O'Reilly Auto Parts store had that would do 2-3 PSI, and found this:

Looks like a dead ringer for the Facet pump that everyone seems to recommend. Enough that I suspect that it's the same pump being made with a Mr Gasket logo on it.

I'll give it a shot and see how it works.

Now, the post I found discussed using an oil pressure switch as an emergency fuel cut off. Is that a necessity or a nice to have, and are there any recommendations for one that will work?

I used that same low pressure pump on my 1500 MG Midget racer (with Spit engine).

It was OK in the paddock but could supply enough at race speeds (80-100 mph) so I swapped it for a hi-pressure facet and a regulator.
Not sure if it'll work for you at sustained highway speeds....I guess you'll have to see.

I've got one on my J-H Lotus engine and it keeps up just fine. In fact I went from the higher pressure unit to the lower pressure one to try to improve mileage. I didn't do anything for that situation, but it semms to run fine with either one, at least under non racing conditions. I would be interested in thoughts on the oil pressure cutoff you mentioned.

More important than an oil pressure switch would be an inertia or roll-over switch. I don't know a source for those switches but on other boards I have heard of people removing them from more modern cars and adapting them to fit our classics.
