Heater outlet seal alternative

After reading some threads on how difficult it is to reinstall the heater in an MGB I have a possible solution but need advice. It appears the heater outlet seal causes problems when trying to reinstall the heater. What do you guys think of installing the heater without the seal then using expanding foam in place of the seal. I'm talking about the stuff you use to plug holes and seal window frames around the house. Is it possible to get an aerosol can with a application tube close enough to apply the foam around the heater where the seal normally goes? I can't check for a while because the car is in a barn and I'm working on parts I took off in my garage.

My opinion is don't do it. You'll never be able to get the heater box out again if you fill it with the expanding foam. I removed my heater box and I had a heck of a time getting it out even with the standard foam seal that was originally on the box.

Another thing about that expanding foam, it will go in the path of least resistance. So, it may will expand to fill the outlet holes as well. Sounds like too much trouble to me.

Have you thought of leaving the heater box out. Do you really need to use your heater that much? If you only drive your B in warmer weather then you don't need the heater.

Then you guys probably don't like my idea of putting concrete on the floor panels as sound insulation  Seriously, thanks for the reality check. I want to put the heater in because I live in Ohio and it is sometimes cold at the wrong time of the year. Also, I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible. Thanks again for the advice.
