HS2 velocity stacks

I hate people like you Tim.

Hap - exactly what I did with my MGB - but much easier in my case since the stacks were already there!!

I believe our friend in Oregon was the inspiration there, correct me if I'm wrong.

So, depending upon price of course, I'm IN for my 948 motor in my sweet new Sprite MK II ride.

Thanks!

Ever since I saw Bob M. do this & Hap I have been sold.
An easy mod to do on an MGB... on Bob's website:

https://www.cibolas7.net/17963.html

Having these for the 948 would be great!!

Will the stacks work on the H1 also? My '62 MkII has a bugeye motor (9c) in it with the original H1 brass tops. I cant seem to find a description of the differences between the H1 and HS2 models... any one point me to some reading?

Hap
I would be interested too, based on price and the depth my pockets.

Vizard discusses these and others with a chart on Page 59 of the Yellow Book.

The 5.8% Increase is super for all tunes. :yesnod:

Also the old K&N Europe unit on Page 54 includes them in the back plate. A nice unit to have.

Re the H1 carbs, they are 1 1/8" throats and the HS2 are 1 1/4" so stacks for the latter wouldn't help and probably hinder air flow on H1's,

What SU has a 1 3/8" throat?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:] What SU has a 1 3/8" throat?[/QUOTE]
:confuse: Any particular reason you want 1 3/8" SU's?
The only sizes I know of are 1 1/8, 1 1/4 , 1 1/2 & 1 3/4 There are bigger available but they wouldn't be suitable for Spridgets.
Graham.

Just so ya know----- On SU carbs, the number at the end is the number of 1/8" over 1". So that HS2s are 1 1/4", HS6 are 1 3/4", etc. .. If they had made 1 3/8" they would be HS3s.

Hmmm, I thought I posted here yesterday, but it didn't show up. Anyway guys to just let you know, I keep all your names, this is going to take a bit of time, first is the design pahse, then the prototypes, and testing then production, this could take a couple of months.

Good that it'll take months.. Since I'm not exactly working full time right now, it will give me time to find the $$$$. No rush whatsoever. I think we'd all rather have it RIGHT than FAST.

No problem on time, Hap. Going to take me a few months to have the car ready for them anyways.

I am a bit of a purest and am not looking for the most power, I have something else for that(think 408HP on the dyno, with 402ft/#'s torque, did that 1/4 mile really go by in 12.25?). However, I am interested, I run the OEM filters and was looking for stakes that would fit in that setup thoughts? I actually like the look of originality.

I definately hear you, and thats maybe the best thing about the stack is, user friendly, you can remove the air filter in seconds.

You'll enjoy this story, I have a good friend I SCCA raced with for years, he had two race cars, a H Production 948 Bugeye, and GT1 Camaro, for sure a wide swing in two race cars, I asked him one time what was the difference, fiquiring he say the the Sprite is alot slower, which it is, he commonet was, they are about the same, they both fell quick sitting behind the wheel.

I have another group of buddies that vintage race, and one of these guys races a 1966 Corvette A Production car, quite a piece of work, wins the Walter Mitty at Road Atlanta every year in his class, drive the wheels off it, he also is the second driver on the 1275 Spridget vintage car in the enduro races, he says the Midget is alot more fun to drive, I can beleive that. When I first starting going to the vintage races, I always loved the Shelby Mustangs until I saw them on the track, and saw how badly they handled, a good MGB or Elva will smoke a good Shelby 350 on the track, hard to believe but true.

The thing about a Spridget when it comes to road race car is to achieve the amount of corner G forces that a Spridget can do ( a good SCCA FP car on slicks can do 1.8 Gs in a corner) you need a $500,000 prototype, makes a Spridget for the money look real good, when it comes right down to it, the corner speed is why we do this.

Hehe, yep. Even on the street it is all about corner speed. Suck a tail gater into a tight corner and watch him panic. Smiles per mile.
