I have a 73 MG Midget 1275,
I recently changed the headgasket and had the car up and running. I was going to clean the Carb when I had it, but I never got around to it. I decided to clean it after I had it in with a degreaser, which did an ok job. Before I did this it had quite a bit of residue on it, but seemed to be working ok. The one thing I did notice was the accelerator arm does not return all of the time. My first thought was maybe springs to return them as I am guessing they are 35 years old. I have an email in to Joe to get the 3 return springs. Last night I was out the car felt like it was running on 3 cylinders, but after looking at the arm connector, this had not returned all of the way. The springs don't seem that strong, so I am wondering if there are other things I should look at. Also, should I take the Carbs off and clean them and get them rebuilt as I would guess they have never been touched in 35 years, though the car has only done 18,000 miles.
Thanks
allan
