Do i need to rework the throttle plate as it does not close all the way. about 10 thousandth gap on one of them.
Is this too much for a good Idle?

Try to loosen the butterfly screws and re-position the butterfly for a better closing.

Yes, the butterflies should seal up tight. Scott's idea is right on. I had a similar issue on the HS4 on my previous MGB -- one butterfly didn't seal correctly and that carb just would not idle down to even close to where it was supposed to.

Loosen those screws and get them to seal.

Thanks for the good advice. I now have them where they should be. now I think I can get them adjusted properly
It is interesting trying something for the first time. I do not think it is possible to get it right without help.

I now plan to do any new-to-me job at least twice if I'm lucky, sometimes more...

The intake manifold did not have wings on it. The old on hung on the studs. This one may have been easier to install as i was able to put the washers and nuts on before offering it up. I have a suggestion on the ones with wings. Cut the bottom wing off. The top one will still hold the manifold with carbs and heat sheild on. Now you can start with the washers and nuts on. Less time and less skill is required. Just slide the manifold behind the washers and tighten up the nuts

Rod,
anytime I work on my Bugeye or B and there are 2 of those assemblies I do one at a time so I can use the original as a reference. This doesn't keep me from screwing up, just gives me something to look at after mine doesn't work quite right.

Ok I am giving up on this switch. Cannot get it anywhere a good idle. I rechecked the intake manifold to make sure it was sealing. Best I can tell it was. I reinstalled the originals on the same gasket. It now works the way it use to.
I still need to do something. Like buy 2 new H1 or switch to a weber down draft. I know some have had problems with getting these adjusted. Some have figured it out. At this point it may be best to stay with the H1. I sure would like to try the weber.
