I'm trying to sort out a number of wiring and lighting issues on my car and I've heard that it's not a good idea to leave the the ignition on for an extended period if the Dist has Petronix. Should I disconnect the two wires to the Dist before I do any wiring tests?
 
You only need to disconnect one of them; preferably the black or black/white to the Pertronix module.
