TR2/3/3A tr3 dimmer switch

Could somebody please post a picture of a tr3 post 60K dimmer switch that is still in place?

That is perfect; I thank you 6TTR3a. I had it in that way and it just looked wrong. Like the wires would get pinched by my foot. Thanks again much appreciated.

Wow, there's that much difference between pre and post 60K cars? Here's mine:

My TR4 has what appears to be the same switch as the late TR3A but the bracket is mounted the opposite way 'round (like the pictured early TR3A). I think my TR4 is correct for a TR4 but sure looks like putting it the other way would be much more comfortable for my left foot.

That is what I thinking too Geo. If I mounted it with the wires in back, that would move the whole thing up to front, and if I left it the way I had it, after time, the wires would become broken.

FWIW, Bill Piggott has a photo in his omnibus TR originality book of the later type switch on a late TR3A, with the bracket turned like the early TR3A shown above. The switch is mounted with the connections facing downward, and the wires come down behind the bracket, and turn underneath it, so it's practically impossible to get your foot on them.

The photos in my TR4 owner's handbook seem to show the same thing (although it's not entirely clear).

So, while the evidence is kind of thin, it's my belief that Frank has his switch and bracket installed wrong.

Nothing like the forum to jog the memory!
I took a lot of reference photos when I started the restoration 22 years ago, but the orientation of the dip switch wasn't one of them. When I reassembled the switch (probably correctly) I
had a tough time getting my size 12s past the clutch petal to the dip switch. I decided I had it in wrong, flipped it &
found it much more comfortable. After reading Randall Young's response, I looked in my Piggott reference book (Original TRIUMPH TR2/3/3A)but the only photo I could find was of a RHD model. The evidence definitely points to my photos being misleading.

Well I am not sure what to make of this, but I tried to flip the dimmer bracket around and it only goes on way. The bolt holes on the bracket are not inline. I would either have to fab up some spacers and build the whole thing out or mount a hard panel on the kick board for the bracket to sit on. I am starting to think as incorrect as it looks, it is correct in Franks picture. At least it will make two of us out there with a size 12+ and wires being precarious Frank.
