TR6 No response at key ignition '74 TR6

Intermittent problem with ignition. Turn the key,
absolutely no response of any kind -- no click, buzz or
otherwise -- quiet.

All lights, dash, etc fully operable. Stranded; push
started; got home and fired right up four times before
I bed her down.

So, what do ya think? It will do this in one instant,
then correct and fire in the next.

Over time the connectors or wire ends on the starter solenoid will corrode or come lose. I would check them first.

Does your car have the original starter relay (mounted with the horn relay) and seatbelt interlock module (passenger footwell, left side)? If still in the starting circuit they may be causing trouble. It's possible to bypass the seatbelt module with a jumper wire.

My starter relay became intermittent and had to be replaced.

Have you had the battery tested? I had the same problem and the battery only read 10volts so would not respond to the switch but would push start. Testing at Autozone proved my battery was dying.

And of course could be a failure at the ignition switch... either the connection or internal to the switch.

Trick will be to recreate the problem with an voltmeter in hand. Wiggling the wire (white/red?) at various points may help find it.

I'm with Jeff. Those seat belt interlocks are a pain. Get id of it.
