Rebuilding a master cylinder for BT7

Okay I am feeling pretty incompetent here! It has been a good 35 years since I put new seals in a master cylinder. Would some one please tell me how to get the item apart in the image below so that I can install the seals? The instructions with the seal kit are useless.
