Plug wires

I know my Rover is a bit picky about ignition parts so is there a particular brand of plug wires Jags like better? I was looking at the bosch and the kingsborne.

Advice as always appreciated...

depends on what kind of jag you have. Do you have and early jag with screw cap or later EI jag?

89 XJ6 so electronic ignition.

The Bosch wires work fine. These cars are not particularly tempermentl about things like that. You would however be wise to purchase a crank sensor, and carry it with you, along with the allen wrench (5mm I think) to change it with. They are common failure parts, and when it goes, no amount of cursing will convince the car to start.

I'll get one to keep in the glovebox, for some reason advice like this seems so normal to me.

Having the same xj6, and having yet to have had this problem, and not being super car savvy, I would like to get the full specifics on this problem. Exactly which wires are these, where are they located? Where would one purchase a crank sensor, something just quality enough that I don't have to worry about that not working? Any and all eBay, or other links are appreciated.

The 88 XJ6 was prone to the faulty crank sensor. When they were first out we would have cars come to the shop, as we were closer than the dealer, after going thru a chassis wash type car wash or after a good rain and they had run thru puddles. We found the problem by coincidence. Seems after they dried the would be fine, therefore we put one on the lift and squirted water on the crank sensor and the car died. Dealer problem in warranty! The dealers then thru Jag would install a new and ( supposedly ) better sensor, seems the problems went away after that. Have not seen a problem until mentioned on the now 20 year old cars.

After reading some reviews on them I went with the 8mm Kingsborne wires. I'll write up a review of them once I get them in hand and installed.

Of course they'd have to be pretty bad to not be an improvement over the original wires...
