Putting the 1275 in the bugeye went through the fun of wiring, had it all wired. Pulled the starter switch and the starter moved for a split second nothing else except some smoke coming from the switch.
The engine ran when I sold it to someone in my 64 sprite. He pulled it to do a swap. It sat on his garage floor since. Never outside. I bought it back for my bugeye. Put it in and it was locked up. I oiled the cylinders multiple nights with marvel but no change. I got a socket to turn the crank bolt and the engine would spin one cycle when the 2&3 cylinders got to the top it would freeze.
Popped the head of to find rust at the top of 3 cylinder. It doesn't look major and I didn't force the piston into it. This was a running engine 5 months ago. Is this something I can try cleaning? This engine is for getting the car going and then will be pulled for one that will be rebuilt and cleaned etc....
I searched here and found a couple different ideas but just want to get some good tips and things not to do! Thanks.
also looking at the picture the rust that appears to be on the cylinder wall is from the top and the oil. It wipes away with my finger and is spotless. My concern is the top ring.
