Heater Core & Battery ......

Hi All -

I am trying to clean up my engine bay. I was thinking of:

* Moving the battery to trunk (easier access & weight distrib; although I'm not a racer).

* Removing Heater Core (I don't even have a top so it's just something that takes space and potentially something to break)

Am I guilty of 'reading too much'? Any thoughts? Anyone do the same? Any and all opinions welcome.

Tx-

George

I've never personally relocated the battery in a Spridget, but can obviously be done.

Depending on when you drive the car, having a heater even with no top can make driving on a chilly evening a little more comfortable by keeping you feet/legs warm at a least. There really isn't that much to go wrong and having the extra capacity coolant coupled with the heater blower fan if your engine starts to overheat is something to consider too. :driving:

I think you're reading too much.

1. Keep the heater core but make sure you have a shut off valve for the coolant. Besides you live in Ohio.

2. Unless you are racing, keep the battery in the engine bay - there are many horror stories out there of people who set their cars on fire by having long thick battery cables that run from the rear to the front and rub through and ground on the car.

just finish and drive!

Some of the best rides you will ever have will be on a cold night with the heater on and the top down. If you have a tonneau, even better. Don't lose the heater.

Michael

I moved the battery to the trunk. Had no problems, it did make a small boot that much smaller. Eventually, when I could get the OPTIMA small batteries that fit where the original was intended, I moved it back. I am an original freak and have no problems with the optima battery and think it looks better under the hood. But I also do not use wet cell batteries.
