TR4/4A TR4A Top Boot/ Hoodstick Cover Install

Hi,

Any one have any instructions on how to install? I purchased this kit from TRF 10 years ago. Came across it on a shelf in the basement and decided it's now or never.

It came with 7 of the "lift the dot" fasteners and 8 of the button snaps. Any special instructions or tools needed to install these?

I don't think you will need any special tools. I installed mine by myself about seven years ago, so I don't really remember all the details. In a nutshell, the lift the dot fasteners go to the rear, the snaps on the sides (3 each side and snap into the body) and two snaps are used to hold the leading edge down by fasteneing to the interior panels just aft of the doors.

If you can find a few photos, I think it should be a snap (pun intended).

I found TR6 instructions online but no 4A. Some help:

I first did the lift a dots grommets to the plate. Tool is available however I used a paper punch and exacto to make the holes. For the grommets a socket in a 2X4 and a fair sized punch worked ok. I had to get extra grommets and do a couple over. Start in the middle and work out, pulling tight, one hole at a time so window is tight when done. Do not put on the side snaps until top is all the way on. Next put top on rear deck with straps. First mark center of top in front for reference. Fabric store had material for new straps which I hand sewed. Eyeballed to get tight, rivet to front of frame and then do cross bars. Then with contact cement on top and front of frame determined tightness of top. I got it quite tight, it will stretch over time, do it in the sun when it's hot. That was tricky to choose what was the right tension but worked out fine. Channel then rivets top on under front of frame. The rubber seal that slides in is a pain. Now with top up you can mark the side snaps and put them in. Thats how I did it, not as bad as I thought.

I see now you are just doing the cover, never mind. I was watching soccer closer than reading your post.
