is adjusting the jet opposite of an su? the manual say up is rich and out or down is lean, but that sounds wrong. any info helps thanx.

With Strombergs that I know about you adjust the height of the needle, down through the top of the dashpot. So yes, higher is richer.

That is true for the later 'emissions' ZS carbs, as found on later TR6.

However, the ZS carbs used on the TR4 have an adjustment screw on the bottom, that changes the jet position. Turning the screw clockwise raises the jet and leans the mixture.

If you're using the adjusting tool, no, clockwise is rich. You are turning a stationary screw set-up. When you think you're turning it leaner (clock wise) it's actually pulling the needle up (richer).
