How to seal the square hole in the firewall

Some previous owner replaced the OEM fuse block in my '76 Spitfire with an aftermarket fuse block that uses blade fuses. I've got no problem with that. I do have a problem with the square hole that remains open with some wires running through it.

I've tried to close the hole with duct tape just to keep cold winter breezes from blasting through it. That didn't work at all. Worse, we had a cloudburst last weekend and rain came in that square hole that soaked everything in my driver's side glovebox.

Does anyone know of grommets or gaskets that I can use to seal this hole? Or, if I can't find a grommet, does anyone have a hand-me-down OEM fuse block so I can put the car back to its stock configuration?

How big is the hole?

An old tire from a bicycle, and a small washer or some aluminum from a soda can, and a few self-tapping metal screws would probably get you by...

Cut the soda can and flatten into a plate. Cut the tire to about the same size as the soda can plate, and then screw both sandwiched together to the firewall. Rubber keeps the water out, aluminum clamps it tight in place.

What size is the hole? Get a piece of thin sheet metal and rivet or screw it in place and seal with Permatex.

Those are good solutions. I have pop cans and inner tubes. I know what I'll be bodging together this weekend.

If you make the inner tube/metal plate, punch a nice hole in the center, mount a standard rubber grommet and run the wires through that, it just might look factory installed.

Check McMaster Carr. They have square rubber tubing in short lengths. It has a hole in the center, but you might be able to make it work.

What size is the hole? I may have a grommet left over from my TRF kit that I bought two years ago when I redid my engine compartment. If I have your size, I'll mail it to you.

Paul- I was joking

RLandrum first asked, then you asked, then you asked again. Still no answer.

Sometimes I'm amazed we stay sane!
