Spitfire Spitfire 1500 in Gran Turismo 4

Well, I was hoping to see a TR2, TR3 or TR6 in Gran Turismo 4, which came out today, but at least they have a Spitfire 1500. Also a Jag E-type coupe, and a bunch of muscle cars.

Just doing the license tests now.

I was just about to post this same topic. I'm working on the Spit right now. Did you notice where Truimph was listed in the credits? BMW Group - BMW Mototsports, MINI, Triumph.

I just love how the Jensen Interceptor III is listed under "Jensen Healey" --- as far as I can recall, the company was never referred to legally, or in marketing as "Jensen Healey" -- just for the Jensen Healey car itself.

Best part is loading it (the spit - see sig) with a stage two turboand a 100 hp shot of N20... you can kick the bejebus out of maaaany a BMW.

Funny thing is that I haven't even bought the Spit yet...I've been too busy using a black 1969 Corvette Stingray in the races...can't imagine why /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

How about that Nurburgring Nordschleife!! What an amazing and challenging course! I've been using the Lime Green Motorsports Elise for quite a bit of the game. Once I had imported my licenses and the extra 100,000 from GT3 I could buy and start out with the Elise (which I got hooked on in GT3). I'm at about 22% complete and can't wait until I can see what kind of challenges lie in the "Extreme Events" category.

Out of curiousity, what is the max horsepower you can tune the Spit to? I haven't gotten the game yet and won't for a while.

I'm disappointed there's no GT6. And of all Spitfires, they had to pick the MkIV with its huge ugly bumpers. An MkI, II, or III would have been a lot cooler...

Glad to see they have Alfa, Fiat, Jenson, and Jaguar Roadsters, but no MGBGT? What about the Lotus Elite or Lotus Europa?

I tuned the Spit to 202hp, and lightened it a bit. I found if you go to Special Conditions, and run the first Capri rally, you win a $250k Escort. I went back and won the car six times and sold it, unlimited funds! As for the Nurburgring, since I've run the real one, I love it. The track didn't seem so skinny in real life.

There is a 1971 Lotus Europa. I won one for winning one of the Europe league races. I haven't really checked it out yet though. And of course no racing game is complete without a couple of '80's Lotus Esprits.

I'm actually pretty happy with the range of cars, but wish they had chosen better models: A TR instead of Spit, a '69 427 Corvette (L88 or 435hp) instead of smallblock, a Jensen Healey or Healey 100 instead of Jensen Interceptor, a MGB and/or MGA instead of just a newer TF, a Hemicuda instead of a 440-6pack and '68 Charger instead of '70...but there are some really great rides too -- Lancia Stratos, 300SL Gullwing, LS6 Chevelle, Lotus Europa and Elan, Ginetta G4, Honda 600 and 800 roadsters, Mazda Cosmo...and the car I just won -- the 1963 Corvette Z06 now campaigned in vintage events by Vic Edelbrock.

How much can it be lightened?

A real race-tuned Spitfire with all fiberglass parts can be lightened to about 1250 pounds. Imagine that with 200+ horsepower, instead of about 70. With 70 horses, a race modded 1250 pound Spit can sometimes do 0-60 in less than 6 seconds...

Also glad tohear there's a Lotus europa. I love that car, but am disappointed about no Lotus Elite. Not a fan of 80s cars much, especially the Espirit. I hate wedges.

On GT3, my favorite cars were the Elise and the Opel Speedster. I have a 350 horsepower Speedster that can cream any car up to 700 horsepower in that game. It tops out at like 215. More realism would be nice though. At 170+ in that game, the aerodynamics of cars tend to start losing realism it seems and being too forgiving.

The physics in GT4 are much better, especially when it comes to everything about ascending, cresting and descending hills. The hills are more dramatic (and real,) and road surfaces now are uneven.

As far as the cars, especially the classics, yes, I'm also disappointed in some of the overlooked cars. Elite would have been nice, as would have TRs, Healey 100, MGB, MGA, MG TC, Jag D-Type/XKSS, AM DB4, Fiat Spider 124/2000, '59 Corvette, '77 Trans Am, BMW 507, Bentley Speed Six ...seeing as they had licensing done with these manufacturers anyway.

Aww, no D-type either!? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I love the D-Type. What other road-legal car out of the 1950s could hit 170 MPH? That thing looked so sharp too. I love the BRG paintjob that was placed on the D-Types...
