TR6 progress on my tr6 trailer hitch

I am finally getting my trailer hitch designed and made. Better than that I am happy with the way it is working out.

I am mounting it on the brackets for the bumper over riders that were on my car. One of the photos shows how it will fit. It is being made from aluminum and will be plenty strong to pull that little trailer I will cut the top of the brackets off so things look better.

Looks great, Tom. Are you also welding the aluminum yourself? Out of curiosity, do you know what the safe maximum limit is for towing behind a Tr6?
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I would weld it myself but Parkinson's makes it not very pretty. A guy that was in the business is going to do it foe me.

Towing capacity of a TR6 in the owner's manual is 2,000lbs if the trailer has brakes. Not something I would try.

The little trailer I have is less than 100lbs and it will rarely have 100lb in it and never more than 200lb.

I pulled it loaded with camping equipment with my Saturn wagon to Missouri one time and got 35mpg.

That's going to be a nice rig. Looks just the right size for your TR6.
I'd think you'd want a pretty good load in it to keep it from bouncing around too much,.. you know keeping both wheels down on the road.

Look good!

I had a hitch on my 4A for a while. I had angle iron welded across the ends of the frame, and bolted the tongue to that and the existing cross bar that supports the boot floor. Used it to two a 13' sail boat, and a small utility trailer when moving into college. Made a very nice tow vehicle (for light loads).

No yards of Cedar Grove Compost with it, Darrell?
