Good drive, and broke the tach

Cobbled the carb linkage back together last night, and took the Tunebug out for a 1/2 hour spin around the town. Nice how much fun you can have in a Sprite at slow speeds. On my bike, the roads seem very slow at 45. In the Bugeye, that's a sporting pace!

Did a little exploring, and headed up a canyon road I hadn't been on before. Few rough patches of pavement, but a nice twisty road--at least down hill. Uphill was a slow, hot process. On the way down one of the bumps must have knocked something, since I saw the tach needle fall down to zero. Checked the connection at the generator, and it was loose. Tightened it up, but it's still DOA. Something else for the autumn work schedule.

Thinking more seriously about starting a 1275 fund. So much fun to drive, but not up any sort of hill, which is unfortunate when one lives in the mountains. Don't need more top speed, but could use plenty more power to get up those hills! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

LOL. 45 used to feel fast before I started working on my fuel/air delivery and suspension. I have to watch my speed now!

BTW, 92MPH on the freeway was fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif And before you 1500 haters start chiming in, that was UP hill, no wind assist /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Broken tach drives seem to be a very frequent complaint on the message boards.

Mid 90's is where my car peaks in it's power band. It can accelerate after that, but it certainly flattens out there. It might also be a case or aerodynamics too.

The difference in feel between the bike and Bugeye is amazing. The bike is a 650 V-twin, and just seems to have power everywhere. Not quite loping along at 70, but close. Bugeye would be quite something at 70!

Have to dive into the tach at some point, but it may wait now for a month or so until I decide to take him off the road for the season.

I used to be able to get my Midgets up to 100. My BE lifts at 90 - 95, so hopefully with my latest round of updates, my goal is to break 100. WooHaa
