General Tech Assembly Lube

I realized after using plastigauge that as I removed each connecting rod cap I put lube on the crank and cap, figuring that's good enough without spinning the crank to do the other "hidden" half. I assumed the lube would do for the entire journal. Am I OK, particularly since I'll be running the oil pump to prime the pressure before starting anyway?

Should be ok. As you are assembling each internal part you are rotating the crankshaft? I like to pump oil into the crankshaft as I assemble the lower end not just on the journals, that way its constantly running into the bearings.

Overkill here is not a bad thing but I don't think it's necessary. Lube on the lower half should be fine. I'd spin the engine with plugs out until you show oil pressure before actually starting it, particularly with a dry oil filter. Tom
