To my Dad the Brits made sports cars. It was the Japanese cars he considered "foreign"...think it had to do with sides during the "Big War".

And oh, he's keeping track of the TR3 restoration more closely than when I was doing Big Block Vettes!?! Gonna have to hide the keys when it's done!

My dad bought a '61 in 1963. He is the toughest, hardest man I have ever known. He was a 27 year pilot in the USAF through Viet Nam. The only real praise I ever received from him was after he gave the TR to me, (instead of either of my brothers)and a year later he drove it hard and claimed that the car runs better now than it did when he dropped it off. Then he told me to hurry up and get the bugs off of the paint. I was 51 years old at the time.

Your Dad was a true Triumph man. I just got home and will have this scotch on the rocks for him..... I'm glad you still have it. Here's to a tough old man who served his country!!

I guess I'll have no problem qualifying to buy a TR3. Started with a TR6, now I have an 8, a three may do nicely as companion to the 8 in a few years.

He grew into Glenlivet over time....When I was 13 he taught me how to make his version of a dry Martini...three fingers of cold Beefeater while glancing at a bottle of Martini and Rossi. The glass never seemed to be important.
