MGB 1970 MGB w Mazda Rotary done right!

Just thought some one out there might be interested in my really nice conversion that the hot rod shop next door did on my 1970 MGB. It is a 1985 12a with the matching 5 speed tranny. My shop (Karma Kreations) took it apart and put it back together for the paint and we also did the custom interior. It has Miata seats and we custom built the double roll bar.

The car and engine look great and I would think that it would be fast, but I think that the cards in the windows will blow out at any speed over 85 MPH. I guess that they make good wind deflectors at lower speeds though.

How does this affect your handling? I'm thinking you've taken off some significant weight off the front end with this swap.

I like it. I don't know why the Mazda 12A & 13B aren't used more for swaps.

I always thought a 13B in any of the Lotus 7 kits would be ideal, for example.

THe mazda rotary has been used in quite a few swaps, they have a name for a Lotus 7 with a Mazda "Rotus" I think. We have a Midget in the area with a Mazda rotary--have heard of others, it is a good swap re weight and power (less weight, more power, compact, not so much more power that it is absolutley necessary to re-engineer everything like a big v-8 swap).

The rotaries are a hoot for swapping into small British cars - I've seen quite a few of them.

Fun to drive except in the mountains where the lack of torque leaves them gasping a bit compared to a conventional engine.

But so what? They can do that all they want halfway back down the mountain, it still won't be up with the larger displacement piston engined car.

That does look very nicely done!
My Europa has a 13B swap, but i am yet to drive it. Bought it in May, but almost right after buying the car ran into some family issues and didn't get a chance to play with it until October, found out it needs a fuel pump...Ordered one for a Mazda, which didn't work because the Mazda pump has to be submerged. We then got sidetracked with the white B, so the europa will have to wait till the spring, I think the first thing is going to be just hooking up a regular S.U pump and seeing what happens.

Nice job! Looks great, probably goes like stink too. I wish I had done this to my BGT. I'd probably still be driving it today if I had!

I got room for that in my garage.
