Which way would be better -- Body Work

I am getting my 69 ready for painting, i have it stripped and now just finishing off the last little bit of body work to make sure everything is straight and smooth except for one part.

The boot part that goes around the back and under the taillights is rotted out pretty bad as well as the bumper mounts under the car. I have a parts car that is in decent shape in the trunk. I was thinking i could cut that out(including the floor of the trunk) and have it welded in would this be better then just welding in a piece of metal then forming and mudding it.

Also I imagine it should work but the rears on the 74 is the same as the 69 correct, nothing changed a little (like the turn signals on the front fenders on some of the cars.)

TIA

A little clarifying because it may not be clear.

1. I am wondering which would be better cuttinng the piece out of another car or making a piece that would fit.

2. There are no differences from the 69-74, right. At least the part in the above mentioned question.

I'd go for cut and paste - even if there is smoothing required, you have the basic shape to start which saves time and money

I second JP's thoughts. You will be much better off cutting out the section you need and welding in. You will need to do some smoothing after welding anyway so this would make it easier for you to blend in and will have the correct appearance. I believe the 69 and 74's are the same so you shouldn't have issues with fitment.

You can buy all those pieces.

Now, is your '74 a chrome bumper or a rubber bumper? (I know '74 was chrome & '74-1/2 was rubber but lotsw of states don't have 1/2 year ability) If it's chrome, they're the same except for side marker lights.
