Hi guys;
I have a small shop near Philly, Pa and am constantly buy parts from various sources, anywhere from remote warehouses to old barns in the middle of no where. I recently bought a group of TR-3 parts and two cars from an elderly gentleman who was cleaning out his barn and as we were loading the pickup (and trailer) I spotted a fender skirt in the corner and as I walked up to it, found the other side buried in some straw (This was a "real" barn find (LOL). The set is matching right and left, very solid with some staining and surface rust and the center trim piece (oriented towards the rear I assume) appears to be stainless. The center "bolt" of the trim, operates the attaching arms that are spring loaded. I'll apologize right now for the photos from the smart phone, it was (freakin') COLD and we drove almost 300 miles starting out at 4:30 am. I will take some more tomorrow with a real camera.
Now the seller had owned, restored and played with TR-3's probably since they were new, but I'm not going to say these are for a TR-3. I think the TR-3 type do not have that flare towards the rear end. These are flat, like the TR-3's and the mounting hooks seem to match (as well as I could see trying to avoid frostbite). They are definitely British and are for a larger wheel, 15" like a 3. It is possible that years ago he bought them at a swap meet or that type of venue and they weren't a fit and were fro another car. I think the two hints are the center trim and the shape. Comments or thoughts?
