TR2/3/3A TR3 clutch release bearing

Im in the process of installing a new clutch in my 57 TR3. I got a clutch kit from BP, most of my other parts from Moss. My concern is that the new release bearing is a "slip-fit" onto the new brass bearing carrier. I assumed I'd have to press the parts together, plus i thought there shouldn't be any possibility of movement between the two parts. I can pull the bearing on and off the carrier easily by hand.Any suggestions? Thanks
 
I agree this should be a press fit. In fact some care is needed when pressing... I believe the technique is to rotate the bearing whilst pressing.

I replaced the bearing as a matter of routine when I replaced the clutch. About 5,000 miles later I had the gearbox off to replace it with an OD box and I found a LOT of slop in the replacement bearing. I had to believe it was not long for this world. It came from Moss and they acknowledged that it (brand 'Green') was from an unsatisfactory supplier and they no longer used them. Anyway, I just put the original 'Made in England' bearing back in there. It lasted 40+ years, so maybe I'll get 40 more from it.
 
One other thought... I think TRF sells their bearing already pressed onto a new carrier. Removes the issue of proper pressing & fit.
 
Mike, If you still have the old carrier and or bearing, try testing out the new parts. ie old bearing slips on new carrier equals bad carrier etc., then contact the supplier. But if you're like me and have had these things on the shelf forever, then you need to go to an alternate fix. If it is as you feel a slip fit (maybe just a couple ten thousandths too small)(no wobble) then I wouldn't hesitate to simply use a bit of good quality epoxy. Just degrease the mating surfaces. If you decide to reuse the carrier at a later date, it will still come apart in a press.
