Peter gives a lifetime guarantee. His lifetime. Any and all other will leak (by design)and have to be serviced. Get his and you're done.

Tell me more. Are you talking about coilovers?

And speaking of coilovers. If a guy were to change the spring setup to a coilover how do you disable the lever shock? Are there killer springs and booby traps inside? Never had one apart. Pandora's Box:eek:

Just take the oil out. But really there is no better shock than the lever for our little cars with stockish engines. What other shocks do you know of that last 40 years.

We're not talking coil overs when we speak of adjustable shocks, these are adjustable lever arm shocks especially modified by Peter. If I could ever figure out how to post a photo here I'd do it, but this is the link to a photo of a front Bugeye shock Peter modified. https://www.flickr.com/photos/safety_fast/2619659807/in/set-72157605873860590/
He doesn't show them on his website yet, but give him a call and I'm sure he could quote you a price, I think the adjustment mod is about $70 extra per shock. David Lieb runs them front and rear on his Midget and is a screamer on the autocross, then loosens them up and has a comfortable drive home. Best of both worlds.
To disable the shock function you could drain the oil, but you'd also loose the lubrication to the lever arm rotation in the housing which would shorten the life. If you really want to go to a coil over then I'd consider a new upper A arm assembly to replace the shock. Sort of like the Frontline kit for Spridgets or the Costello front for MGBs.

The only reason to run adjustable shocks is to be doing what David is, that is driving your car to the track. If you use your car for only one purpose, talk to Peter and he'll valve the shock appropriately. The adjustable ones ARE cool, but if you're just gonna set 'em and forget 'em ya don't NEED 'em.

Cool lookin bypass lines. I don't think I would need that Rube Goldberg devise on the wifes car. But maybe someday on my 100-4.

Yeah, I almost want the adjustable ones JUST for the look!

WAY COOL!!

Peter is THE GUY for Spridget Shocks! No Doubts!!

(I'm probably gonna try an adjustable set for one of my race cars in the near future....)

To bypass the shock but retain it for an upper link, take out the valve guts but leave the oil to lube the pivot. Lots of Morrisses did front conversions this way. That said, when you can get shocks redone by Peter, why would you mess with so many un-needed extra parts?
I have a Morris, Austin and bugeye that all run on Peterbuilts.

Just for the looks alone, I'd want 'em.

"If it looks like craftsmanship, walks like craftsmanship, then it.."- ah never mind.

These are pics from Peter's presentation on the lever shocks at the BugEye 50th at LakeOfTheOzarks (aka "LotO") earlier this year.
It was a very informative presentation where Peter explained how the shocks work, what the inherent defects are with the stock shocks, and how he rebuilds them so that they work properly & DON'T LEAK!
I highly doubt that anyone who attended this discussion would ever consider buying shocks rebuilt by anyone else.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

"Cheers!"
