well, SWMBO wanted the kitchen painted before Thanksgiving (Canadian) - not entirely unreasonable since I've had portions of the wall in primer for about 10 mos now after doing some wiring. went to Home Depot Tuesday for paint and came home with five light fixtures - painting done and lights installed so now it's time to work on the car.
-all the interior dash lights in an working
-installed an inline fuse on the dash lights
-cleaned up and hooked up the reverse light switch at tranny. (note to self do this before the engine goes in) I still have to change the plug at the light as I got rid of the square reverse lights
Now back to the direction signals
I replaced the flasher unit and confirmed it works.
Unfortunately the direction signals still don't work. If I run a direct line from the fuse box to the green line side of the flasher unit, the signals work perfectly. If I hook it up as it is supposed to be, it doesn't. There is continuity from the fuse box to the hazard switch and continuity from the other pole of the hazard switch to the flasher unit. The hazard lights also work perfectly.
It seems to me that there should be continuity across the hazard switch poles but there doesn't seem to be.
To see this visually, I refer you to Bentley's 1500 Book. Page 330. I have continuity from the fusebox #40 to the hazard switch #44 (green wire) I also have continuity from the hazard switch #44 to the flasher unit #26 (also green) the switch at the steering wheel works as I can get the flasher to work with a direct feed. Any ideas?
It does seem to me that I should get continuity across the poles 7 & 8 on the hazard switch (#44) but I don't - is this correct?
