The attached photo is the front of my
TR6/250 -below the new radiator I installed.

I notice these two sliced open and bent back
circle structures. Anyone know what they used
to be used for? Or maybe some important piece
is missing that I need to purchase?

Thanks as always Tin

But yours look a bit damaged, Tin. They're supposed to be solid rings. I wouldn't tow with them.

Yes they are tow rings. Looks like someone used a little to much force on them. Should have them straighten and then welded. You can always grind it down after its welded and paint them.

I agree with startech. The tie down points are not any area that I would ever connect a tow hook into and expect it to carry the weight of the car, which is what probably happened to yours.

Thanks one and all!!

With the TR dead in my garage, I doubt I will be
towing it anyhere soon. I'll bang on em and clean
them up a bit. Maybe they were cut after making it thru
customs on their trip across the Atlantic to PR from
Florida?

I tried towing using these one time. Not a good idea. Snapped in no time. Use something else.

I think that the "tie down points" was the most logical suggestion. Think about it. They could slip the tie down into the slot, tighten it up and be done with it. Then when they wanted to off load, just loosen the tension and remove the tie down. Ya Think? heck, what do I know... I just bought a Spitfire....

LOL! - mine were the same way!
I welded in a bent piece of rod stock to the very location.

Hopefully will never need it.

Those points were designed to facilitate winching the car up on to a flatbed tow truck. Credit the Brits for thinking ahead!
