Master Cylinder Question

I am assuming my master is failing. When holding the brake the pedal sinks further and further. Given I know its been bled properly, and there are no leaks, then I must have brake fluid bypassing in the master. If thats the case, am I better off rebuilding it, or replacing it? It's a disc brake master as well, and last I checked, they were hard to come by in that bore. thanks!

Have Gerard Resleeve in Brass and that wil be the last time you need to mess with it. NFI
But happy with mine done for Bugsy IV as a 3/4" Master..

If the bore isn't pitted there would only be a need for new seals. Maybe a quick hone. Pretty simple and cheap job. Just remember most brake fluid eats paint.

The after market MCs are pretty reasonable. I dropped one in last year on my '69, and it's been perfectly fine.

I have an aftermarket MC and it is fine - though I have kept the original one just in case.

I always figure it is worth a rebuild - mostly because the rebuild kits are really cheap and then you have the original part and the knowledge gained.

I will say that the quality of aftermarket parts just seems to get worse and worse. I don't fault the companies for this as much as all the work being jobbed out to Jyna with the tolerances that get sloppier and sloppier and things like LBC parts with metric fittings become the norm.

I emailed Gerard, think I will go his route. Not the least expensive, but the best route. I don't like to cheap out on brakes

And Gerard told me he's been re-sleeving new 3/4" units that are < 2 years old. Do it in brass once and forget it.
