How do I get the seats back in my Midget?>?

Guys, the car guys removed the seats and sliding rails to restore them. Pretty much just pulled htem ouas the floors needed ot be patched. Now I have restored the carpeting,. If I put the rails on I cannot get the seats to slide in because of the rectangular hump in the floor under the dash for both driver and passenger. If I try and put them on while attached ot the seat you cant get the ratchet in to tighten them. Any insight into this??? HELP!! Supposedly just this and a few paint touch ups and buffing and she's coming home!! MAYBE TOMORROWW!

If it was me...
I would just throw them in & drive her home and then figure it out.

Unless someone here has a genius way of doing this that you can use to get it done quick & easy.

Put them in with the rails on, slide the seats forward to access the rear bolts and vice versa for the front bolts.
I put vise-grips on the heads and tightened from under the car.

I have a nice scratch on the bonnet of my car trying to figure out how to get them in. When I thought of putting the rails on and then trying, one of the rails flew off and landed on the car while I was carrying the seat to the driver's side! I ended up holding the rails on with some small clamps, and then removing them when the seat was on the carpet. The rails will slip off a couple of times while your trying to get the bolts in, but it will eventually work. Also put some grease on the rails now, because after you have them intalled it's a real bugger and you'll wish you had done it right while they are out and easier to get at.

I think he is referring to the frame rail just in front of the seat Jeff! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
