Not pewter...pewter is an exceptionally soft metal. Back before the chrome process was perfected, they would stop at the nickel plating stage. This became known as "German Silver". It requires much more frequent polishing and has a different "hue" from chrome. When you see the nickel/german silver on the older cars, it is decidely different than what we know as chrome. (I may have gotten some of the exact details off, but you get the idea )

He asked if he could have me bring my enclosed car trailer to his home to haul the car home,which I did.
