true value of a couple of books...

I have an extra copy of Bill Piggott's "Original Triumph TR2/3/3A" and Roger William's "How to Restore Triumph TR2, TR3 & 3A" that I was thinking of selling in order to raise some money for parts for my TR3 restoration. Looking online I was surprised at what these are selling or at least attempting to sell for (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1901432033/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used) and (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/1...;condition=used). Are these at all realistic prices? Both of mine are in excellent condition.
thanks,
Jason

Well, that's certainly more than I would pay.

But then, you might find a buyer who is either unaware that the same information (and more) is available in new books for less money; or for some odd reason is interested in collecting "first edition" books and doesn't care about condition.

I agree those prices seem a bit unrealistic, especially the $1,668.72 listed for the Roger Williams book, that's just silly. Does anyone have an idea of what a fair price to ask for these would be? thanks

Jason....With the first book out of print I think the selling price has gone up a lot. BUT....they came out with another book that covers the TR2 thru TR8....and it devotes a lot of print to the TR2-TR3...giving much of the same info and same photos. My friend that just got a 57 TR3 we directed him the this new book and pass on the original. Link below to new book. Gil NoCal

Thanks for the link. I'm not looking to make a killing off of these, just wondering what a fair price to ask would be... maybe there really isn't a market for these, just ridiculous prices. If anyone would be interested in trading a part or parts for these or making an offer let me know

I agree with Gil - I think both of those books have been reissued in some form which in my mind comes close to setting the upper limit on value - unless you find a collector who really, really wants the original edition.

Hi Jason,
When I started the restoration on my 4 I did not have the benefit of the knowledge from this site. It was suggested to me that the bare minimum needed would be Piggott's book and a shop manual. I found Bill's book for under $100 on EBay and have seen it recently on another site for a similar price..... In my opinion that is a reasonable price. Just my 2 cents.

Brett
