Micro polishing

How in the world, I am not having much luck finding how this is done on the web.

Man it brings up alum like silver. Nice trick.

I am not useing anything, but I see adds saying things are micro polished and they look so good. What is this? Something special?

Are some carbs on ebay for a bugeye and he says micro polished for example.

Ah. Those ARE pretty. I've no idea for polising other than jeweler's rouge and a wheel.

A vibratory polisher with plastic media will do that to aluminum.
Figure about 600 bucks for a decent one.
Incidentally, the seller has a pretty good reputation in the SU world.

Oh really, I have no clue who he is. Only know about Joe. Any clue what he charges for doing your items? I did send him an email but no responce as yet.

Jack, I've never dealt with him, but several forum members have mentioned his work. I usually just do my carbs myself.

Have no probs doing my own carbs but I have never been able to get them to look like that on the outside. Well I have never had to replace a shaft and mine need that.

My guess is some kind of tumbler as well. I've got a blast cabinet I use that has plastic media in it. It will put that kind of shine on the aluminum, but it is not agressive enough to remove stains in the aluminum. On HS2 carbs the shaft rides directly in the aluminum of the carb body, and as a result they don't get sloppy shafts as easily as HS4s where the shafts rides directly in brass bushing in the car body. Most of the time on HS2s the shaft simply wears and the carb body does not. When the shaft hole in the carb body on a HS2 does wear, then you can put a bushing in the carb body to restore it or if the wear is light just ream the carb body out for a .010" oversized shaft.
