'72 midget are the brake lights on only when the ignition is on or anytime you step on the pedal?

Only with the ignition.

thanks Trevor, that's what I thought but my son thought it should be anytime. Now another stupid one what position is the wiper switch in the off position

up is "off", down one click is "useless", down two clicks is "almost useless".

"Three-speed" wipers! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

great, thanks wondered why the motor was getting warm in the centre position and nothing happening. hahaha

It might be time to pull the wiper drive cable and degunk things a bit and reapply some white lithium grease.

What you mean again, I did that 10 years ago when I put it in (sigh)

I assumed this car was new to you. For ten years you have not known the wiper switch position?

Trevor I have been rebuilding this car for about 15 years on and off as funds and inclination allow and it has never been on the road so hopefully this year lol. It has had 3 batteries in that time and that is because they all froze over the winters

oh...

Well... I've never looked closely at how the wiper motor is wired, so it may be mis wired. Or.. there could be another mechanical issue. Mine has always worked so I'm of no help here.

It's wired ok it probably just needs some use and now knowing the off position helps lol I should prob spray the switch with electrical contact cleaner

CRC 2-26. Available at Home Despot... If you pull the switch out from the dashboard you can shoot the cleaner into it from several "openings" in the body of the thing. The lubricant in the motor "wheelbox" can age and stiffen, too, if it just ~sits~. Be nice to it and pull it all apart, clean and service it. You've got lifetime parts there and the "new" replacement stuff available to us thru the "usual suspects" is far, far inferior. I'd fight like a wild thing to maintain the originals rather than take a chance the field winding would be overheated and render'd useless.

...just an ol'[censored]'s opinion. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif
