OK, so if you haven't seen it:
check e-bay item # 110252409704

After reading the description, it seemed a hybrid Rivergate/Morrisservice kit. Here is the answer I got to "how did this kit come together?"

"Hi, I put the kit together myself buying from several sources. The adapter IS from Pack racing in AZ but is not listed on their website. I bought it here on e-bay. The flywheel can easily be used with an MG cover if you wish, just buy Rivercate's clutch disc. It is already drilled and tapped for the Datsun cover, including pin holes, just shifted over 1/3 of the flywheel distance so as to have a fresh area to drill on. All I have is all that is listed. Like the Rivergate kit you have to buy the speed-o set-up seperately. Fastener's are readily available from any good hardware store. This is the only kit I have and I do NOT plan on making any more for sale or personal use so this is it. Thank you for the inquiry and good luck bidding. Regards, Bret"

So - what do you guys think? temptation of course is to assume it all works and if it can be had for $4-500, its a good deal. The other half of me says: Look dummy, buy the complete kit from either Rivergate or MorrisService (I'm leaning toward Paul A's kit) so you have support..probably worth the extra $400 for someone doing their first 5spd conversion.

Has anyone heard of Pack racing making this adapter? Perhaps there is a reason they no longer make it(?)

Thanks all..

If you have the extra money, then buy a packaged kit. If you have extra time and you enjoy a challenge, then buy the ebay parts.

Trevor..that's kinda where my thinking is now..although the budget is tight, I could see this ending up costing more in the long run even if I got it for cheap, with "oh, that's not included..or that, or this"
Just curious if anyone had even heard of this adapter.

I think you would come out cheaper with the ebay deal (unless there is something wrong with the adapter), but what is your time worth? Sometimes I feel like my time is more valuable, and then other times I feel like I should put in the sweat and "head scratching" to save money and have more of a sense of accomplishment.

Paul's kit and support were worth the money to me. The Datsun clutch handles uprated horsepower very well.
Paul's kit had everything I needed and instructions to make it happen. As I recall, I did it in two evenings after I got the flywheel back from Paul. I'm braver now and will drill and tap the flywheel myself for the next one.

I made a lot of parts myself. The only things I really bought was a 5 speed and couple of yokes to convert and then I ended up buying a rivergate plate from someone and then ended up getting another adapter plate from a guy in california that he had gotten somewhere. I liked it better than the rivergate because of where the starter is located. Its probably a morris service or whatever, but I have never seen a website for the place or any info about it. I spent a loooong time on my drive line. Just looking and listening, I saw where two people had problems with the rivergate adapter clutch and I decided to go with the datsun clutch. Also the dastun clutch is an off the shelf part at an auto parts place where the rivergate is special from them only.

Time Money Support
All said and done I waited for Money And opted for the Support and the rear seal. I have no regets or problems. Comfort level knowing that the boys at Rivergate have done this for awhile and is a working setup. Knowing they are there for parts also gives confadence in my decesion.I run a 948 and it's the single best thing I ever did to the car.

Glen and Kim,
The Datsun clutch is the main reason I like Paul's kit. Like you said, at least the clutch kit is an off-the-shelf item. Heck a new Borg Warner kit is on e-bay for $60.

I think I'll bite the bullet and go with Paul's vs a potential headache with this e-bay kit. I need to get DRIVING!

Thanks all.
