Re: Ray's McCaleb's "The Spridget Project" motor build
Jack, actually, no. I considered an AC unit with heat strips, but you know how inefficient they are and how little heat they actually produce. Here in Georgia we don't have a lot of cold weather 6-8 weeks if were lucky (if we're not, fleas will be bad in the yard next summer!). And by cold, you know what I mean, lows in the upper twenties or low thirties mostly. So, seeing that I like working in 50-60 degrees just fine, and that's where my other garage normally stays in the winter, I decided to just use one or two of the tower type ceramic heaters out there and that will more than suffice. BTW...I've been using one in the living room and another in the bedroom for a couple years and the natural gas bill has cut in half and my power bill is only up around $20 a month when I use them...not a bad trade!
Problem is, POR-15 likes going on warm...I mean 70+ warm...and. I rebuilt the front suspension on the TR3 two winters ago and then painted everything...had a lot of brush marks, and that was with the garage around 60.
Tony, I have a lot of original parts that came out of the car; dash, heater, radiator, engine, trans, pedal box and MCs, etc. I'll put together a list later on and post it here, then whatever is left can go on Ebay. Seats and a few other thing are already gone.
Mike, there are some similarities...great minds thinking alike...or some such notion. The front clip is quite different but the rest looks somewhat familiar...I like your car! Some things I've had to compromise on...like wipers/motor...since it has to be street legal (well, more or less). I'd prefer to use a little Rain-x and go faster and save a few pounds on that motor and flex shaft..which in truth, are not much more than display only anyway.
