TR2/3/3A Newton's Third Law

There's a step in the suspension reassembly procedure when you're supposed to jack up the axel to insert the shock assembly; however, if the body's off, there's not enough weight to hold down the chassis and the whole frame lifts up. Proving Newton's law that every action causes an equal an opposite reaction.

Witness Exhibit A. Yes, there's an engine and OD under there. Just one man's albeit inelegant solution.

I used my Wife!

The car will be evidence "The jack must have slipped while he was under the car"

A friend held down the frame of his TR3A using heavy concrete blocks

I also heard about a Brit who used a 2 by 8 wedged between the top of his frame and the rafters of his garage. All it did was lift the roof off the garage.

i thought that you had to have the engine in for the weight. I did this two days ago and when the frame came up one inch off the jackstand that was enough to get the shocks in. I had to squeeze them in compressed and then extend them through the top hole.

I was able to install the shocks with no problem and no weight on the suspension. The rebound stops had to wait until I had the body back on, though.
