Hand/foot pump for tire inflation

Like many of you, I carry around a deflated spare tire because otherwise it would not fit in the compartment. I have had a new foot-operated air pump in with it. I tested it today and found that it doesn't work. Walmart sells an old-fashioned stand-up T-type air pump that works very well, though a bit slow, but it is too large to fit into the spare tire compartment.

Just would like to know what kind of hand-operated air pumps others carry around with them, if they have the same situation.

BTW: I don't want to use one of those cans of "Fix-A-Flat" if I can avoid it. And with no electrical plug in the car, I can't use an electric portable air pump.

Just get a long set of wires and big crocodile clips then you can hook up the electric pump directly the battery. Much easier than a hand pump!

Sorry, no suggestions on a pump. The one I bought many years ago was pretty much junk and had to be repaired several times; but I seriously doubt you could buy the same thing today if you tried. As I think I mentioned before, I solved the problem by mounting a "compact spare" tire on the stock TR3 rim.

that spark plug gadget looks interesting but wouldnt you be pumping a mixture of air and gas into the tire?

Basically, the gizmo opens the cylinder to outside air during the intake stroke, so the cylinder fills with fresh air instead of fuel/air from the intake manifold. Or so they say. I've seen one, but never saw it work.
