My TR7 has the Delco D302 distributor without points. After my latest bout of ignition problems, I've been considering converting to another system, e.g. Pertronix, Lumenition, etc. Has anyone here done it on this particular setup, and if so, what kit did you use and how difficult was it? Also thinking about ditching the Delco coil, how hard would it be to convert to something else? Thanks.
 
OBRK ,Yep that can be done. But I am surprised that your car is a non US Version. Go To Retro Rockets and you will find the best price for the units to fit on your car.---Fwiw--Keoke
 
I haven't done it on this exact model, but I've done it on several British and American cars and the Pertronix set-up is very simple and reliable. As above stated, Retro Rockets does seem to have the best prices. Good Luck
 
I don't have experience with your car either Rich, but I did the Pertronix setup in my TR6 a few years back, got really tired of playing with points. Took about 15 minutes to put in, and that was including a break for a Coke. Has worked flawlessly ever since, the only time I ever open the cap is to oil the distributor shaft. Thing has never missed a beat since installation, couldn't be happier. I also went with the Pertronix flamethrower coil when I installed the distributor module, lots of juice from that thing. Don't know how it compares to something like the Lucas sport coil, but it certainly gets the job done.
