Just received delivery for my Bonnet Seal from MacGregors in Canada.Yes it really does fit very well into the channel and only light pressure with a wooden stuick and rubber mallet and it popped right into place.
On my '68 Sprite at the end of the channel it widens out and there is a large hole I'm assuming that something must go into to secure the seal in place? No clue how this seal is held in place at the ends on a BE. Need a little help here.
Also at the back of the bonnet there is a small lip with a 90 degree angle on it. The bonnet seal sits approx 1/2" below the top of the cowl while the lip of the bonnet sits about 1'16" longer. Does the bonnet sit on top of the rubber seal or go between seal and the edge of the cowl. I'm thinking it must sit on top and press into the rubber seal. I know tolerances on this are close but I don't think they would be that close.
Now the fun starts getting final fitting completed.
