Four door, white/white. Owner was a young version of Mr.T, I'm guessing about 19 or 20. At first he was cautiously watching me approach as he aired up a tire at the local gas station. I asked him which engine it had in it, as the badges were not on the body. When I started telling him of the chassis shared across Ford's mid-size cars he relaxed and got downright chatty. He has done the body work himself and a great job it is. Die-straight (I doubt a factory-fresh one was as straight). He has the original 170 C.I.D. straight six in it, a 289 at home on a stand in anticipation. He said with gas prices as irratic as they are, he's more inclined to keep the six! Had to congratulate him on his choice. I commented that a 260 would be the more appropriate engine anyway, he said he'd looked for one a while before the 289 had shown up. Knowledgable kid!
It is reassuring to find a young guy with the interest and determination to keep something like that on the street. And in the condition it deserves. Fun stuff!
