So I have been fighting some bolt in the transmission cover, then finally broke free. I thought the cover was going to be a complete basket case....but I think it can been salvaged. It has a bit of flange damage but seem pretty solid elsewhere.

The last thing I managed was the support for the steering, it came out very nice.

Anyone know of a good method for repairing the flange?

No, but I'm all ears. My flange isn't as bad as yours, but it's not exactly pretty either.

It's really not as bad as you think. A good sheet metal guy will make a pattern out of cardboard for the replacement piece, cut away the crud, and weld a new piece back in.

Since it is not structural, you might consider making a patch and using something like Eastwood's Body panel adhesive (no special gun required) to attach the patch if you can not weld. even if you can you will not have to worry about warping.
