New oil pump with 2 screws - old one had FOUR!!?

So I'm rebuilding my 1275 engine and I'm putting on the new oil pump which is a 'slot' drive vs. the old one which was a 'spider' drive'. The new one matches the new cam.

BUT the old pump was held on by four screws, this one only has places for two screws. I don't think this is a problem - the screws from the old one will fit fine.

Is this a problem? Or just bolt it on with screw screws? Anyone use any sealant back here?

I put Aviation Form-A-Gasket on the oil pump gaskets prior to fitting.

Over the years the A-series pumps have changed fastener hole locations and counts. Be glad that your pump's two holes line up and just use them. If the un-used tapped holes in the block bother you, get some short set screws, apply some gasket sealer, and insert them into the open taps. I think the pumps mount with 1/4-28 bolts.

On the Mini I had to add a new tapped hole to mount the pump I bought. It's not that it was a big deal, it was just an unexpected additional step.

Thanks for that. I grew up in Raleigh too many years ago and as a boy Durham was not the kind of place my parents thought much of. Today it's a much nicer area, particularly in the southwest corner where I live.
