Well,I sent a deposit off on it,so I guess I'm commited-
(if my Wife doesn't have me commited) to purchase this.
A friend of mine built this car,originally with a Lotus twin cam,
but after too many problems,converted to the 2 litre.Cortina estates are extremely
rare,as most of them have gone to the crusher by know.

Drew, Thanks! - but the wheels HAVE to go.I've got a set of nice Lotus Cortinawheels,+ a nearly new set of stock Cortina GT wheels that can go on it. - Doug
 
I'm always a fan of stock (or similar) wheels. Should be nice once you've got it all sorted out.

Is this taking the place of something in your fleet, or is it an addition?
 
Congrats! I've always had a hankering for a vintage station wagon, especially something the size of a Cortina... Alas I'm nowhere near affording any vintage car, enjoy it! :hammer:

I try to buy only running vehicles any more,as the non-running
ones tend to be paperweights.

Doug you might enjoy the movie "Made in Dagenham" if you have not already seen it. Mostly about social issues and union activity but lots of nice views of cars. In my area it is showing on TV right now.

This will replace the other Cortina,once I've fixed some problems.
It needs a few things ............

* The driver's door won't unlock,and the tailgate won't lock

* The hood release cable has problems releasing

* The gas cap was leaking,& damaged the paint.

* The rear wiper isn't connected

* The radio isn't hooked up ( It's a newer one - I might replace it with an older AM/FM unit)

* It needs a lighter throttle return spring.

* Plus a few other things - "It's always something..."

But Doug if you bought a perfect car you wouldn't get to have the fun of fixing it.
 
Then I must be having major "Fun" right now!
Despite the issues,I love the car,& will keep it,& work on/sell the other
projects.
I'm trying to get it to the stage of making it a "daily driver",
but it'll take awhile.

There is an urban myth floating around the interwebnet that Doug bought a Cortina. Sadly, like many things on the Internet, without pictures, it never happened. I am on the verge of checking out snopes to find out if the rumour has been conclusively disproved but in the meantime, if anyone - anyone - can prove this romour, time to pony up some pics. :excitement:
