With the great help of Dave (TOC) the Wedge roars to life.
Not without worry.

Things that were Kady Wompus.

-The firing order in the front of the manual is missin the 5 and I put it in the wrong order.
-Either I didn't tighten down the rocker arms hard enough or they loosened up. Had to re torque the bolts. The drivers side was real noisy and the pass.side is starting to make noise.
-Don't forget to hook up both dizzy connections.

Pulled the pass. side cover off and all the nuts were tight. Hopefully the slight clatter is just tightness in the new head, cam, and lifters.Beginning to think I must have lost concentration on the drivers side and forgot to torque them

There is a slight leak in the exhaust connectors I showed. When I spun them to get them up out of the way I noticed 1 of them was not tight in a small area. There must be a dimple in the muffle pipe.

I have checked all the hoses and tightened the clamps onelast time so all that is left for it to beon the road is to install the tie rod ends and put the wheels back on.

YEA!

Did you lose your camera during this process or can we expect a barrage of progress photos very soon?

Yes I have Don, but not too many have ever been of the variety that you just posted. Just how much room do you have to work in that front end?

If you notice, carefully, this vehicle sports a prototype vacuum advance unit that actually plugs into the upper radiator hose.

Room up front?

Uh......no.

But, it all fits.

Working on a TR8 engine bay will make you appreciate the room provided in a TR4/6, and make you positively weepy for a Spitfire.

Worth it however.

Don - one thing to consider, I found my TR8 ran surprisingly stronger with the fresh air vents from the front side of the engine back connected to the carbs. She really seems to like the cold fresh air. YMMV w/ your FI.

So when do you think she'll make it out of the garage?

Hi Don. I had the oval foam air filters on my carb TR8 which pulled air from the immediate area in the engine bay. As part of my efforts to get her through CA SMOG I fitted the stock air boxes and the ducting that brings fresh air in from the vents on the far outside top corner of the front engine bay. Made a surprisingly noticeable difference in how she runs. I can post pictures when I get back.

Tom, Look at the tube in front. It does pull air from the front of the car.

Hi Don - saw that. Was just observing that fresh cool air made a big difference for me.

That air filter will still pull warmer air in from the engine bay BUT much less than a carb car will and I did see the air intake from the front of the car.

Usually a bit hotter down here than up where you are ;-)

So what is next on the build Don?

Ran it again for about 10 minutes @ 2000 RPM. Then pulled the oil plug to drain.
Installed the tie rods and will bleed the 4 nipples on the front calipers and install the wheels. Then off to an alignment shop.
I guess the major thing next is to hook the laptop up to it and find out what the #'s show. Then an interior if I'm still in this area this winter. If not, nothin.

Started it up. Up and back in my fairly long driveway. Back in the garage to do a double check. Aw what the heck. 1.3 mile drive to get some more fuel in the tank.
That new cam and heads ,WOW. Back in the garage to top up the oil and check for leaks.
There seems to be a little slop in the steering at 12:00. The manual rack is stiffer than the power but quicker. It will take some getting use to.
Next drive, alignment shop.

Slop in R&P steering:

Rack mounts tight?
Inner tie rod ends okay and tightened to rack?
Column joints tight?
Collapsible sections tight enough to prevent wiggle?
