I just posted this answer to your question on another forum. I'm guessing you asked there as well.
Definitely want to use a relay. Classic Motorsports a few issues back used the wiper switch on the '74 they built to activate driving lights. Later / replacement wiper switches are the same as the headlight switch in that they not only went up/down but also front to back for On/Off . II've got the article and can look up wire colors that may already be in your harness. If your wipers are on the dash on a 62, think about mounting a mini SPDT switch under the dash on the left mounting backet under the dash. I mounted a mini switch there to control radio On/Off so I could run the radio with the engine off. A nice spot for locating the switch, hidden but right where you need it.
Here's a link to an article on Headlight Relays

I bought mine through Parts Express here in Dayton OH but they are available from all sorts of sources. Be sure to get a socket with the relays with wiring already terminated and relay simply plugs in. Article above shows pinouts labelled 85, 86 etc. These are industry standard labelling and appear on many articles on relays.
You'll need mini fuse holder, probably a 20 or 30 amp fuse, some heat shrink tubing , 14 or 16 ga wire, a Ring terminal, soldering iron, and electrical solder, tie wraps.
While you are at it, get two more relays for your Hi, Lo Beams. Mounting point I used is on PS right where pedal box would be on a RHD Spridget. You'll find the Blue White , and Blue Red pairs coming out of the harness going to the front end of the car. I think those are the correct + Piars from memory and then either a black or green groun wire going to the headlights.
I used a wire with ring terminal connected to the always hot side of the solenoid as a power source.
This is an easy to do upgrade. Just make sure all connections are soldered properly and then use Heat Shrink tubing to insulate the connection. Tie wraps to make it all nice and neat.
The difference in brightness of headlamps by adding relays is like night and day. A worthwhile investment in time and money. You may find out you don't really need driving lamps.
