Hey gang, my first post here. My first car was a '69 GT6+ I bought in the summer of '73 after joining the Coast Guard. It was Conifer (or BRG, if you prefer) and a joy to drive--that's it in my avatar. But being stationed out on Long Island, New York, it suffered some being my only ride, all seasons. It is a long story (which I may share at some point), but about a year ago it came to my attention that I still had technical ownership of the engine and various other parts of that car! So I took possession of same, and what does a GT6 engine in the garage do, except beg for a chassis and body to go around it? That came along in July. It needs lots of attention, but hey that's what its about for me (well, part of it anyway). So now I have the chassis in my garage, body at my buddy's place, 2 engines (the other is originally from a TR6) and an extensive to-do list--ahh, ain't it grand?

Welcome to the group. It's always nice to see someone bringing their past back to life!

I see you're in San Diego -- just got back tonight from a weekend wedding there. (Second wedding in SD in 2.5 months!) Took my older daughter down, and slummed it at my sister-in-law's place in La Jolla /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Ahhh, a GT6+; you're a lucky guy. When my only car was a '70 Spit, I lusted for a GT6. Come to think of it, I still do! It's just a georgeous car. Enjoy.

Ditto that, I was just drooling over a few of them at a show this past weekend. Love the lines of that car, I've always thought a GT6 would make a great stablemate to my TR6.

Anyway, welcome aboard and have fun.

I had a friend who had a GT-6 back in the 70's. We had a great time in that car and helped keep me in love with Triumphs.

A 69 GT6+ is what I am working on right now...when I was a kid it was "MY" idea of a sports car..I finally bought one as well....mine needed a lot of work, so I'm doing a frame off...
Good luck we can swap stories!

Hey, thanks for all the kind replies, I appreciate it. Here in San Diego county there is an annual British car get-together, which I attended last year (its coming up again in October). Along with ogling a lot of fine hardware, I had the chance to put my head into a GT6--darned if it didn't smell just like my old car! Guess you know when you have it bad. Now, I have the driver's side rear end just to the point where you extract the hub from the upright--and I noticed the timely discussion of the same yesterday. I better get me a Churchill tool, too!
