What top sticks fit what years...

The top frames from 59-66 should all be stowaway tops, however I am unsure of the intercangeability.

58, 59, 60, and 61-2(MK II) i think or any car with side curtains.

any frame that is one peice for sure. The one that comes apart in the middle is later but just may work but of course is not orginal.

The later ('62,'63,'64) split bows do fit a Bugeye and are a lot easier to store. The rollup window car bows do not fit.

Ahh, did not know that Bill. Thanks. Yep BE frame is spring loaded.

Do the split bows work with the Bugeye top too? Somehow I remember that the tops were different, but I could easily be making that up.

The early split bows are the same shape as the Bugeye, the later ones (late'64 until early '67) are NOT the same shape.
The early ones have the springs the later ones don't.

Also a few early production MKI's (58') didn't have the spring mechanisms. They were solid.
I’ve had a few guys over the years restoring an early car ask if I had a set.
Not sure at what body number the addition of the spring set up started.
Look in your books and you will see pictures of the solid style.

I'm a little late here BUT the split top frames from a Mk-II Sprite or a Mk-1 Midget will not fit the bugeye top. They look like they are the same as a bugeye frame but have a different bend on the main legs where they fit into the holders. This causes the top bows to not fit the cut of the bugeye top. I have a bugeye and a Mk-II and have tried mixing the tops and bows. While yes they will go on they do not fit correctly. The bows as well as the tops are car specific. Each are just different enough that they will not interchange. That said for storage purposes I took a bugeye top frame and cut it in two just like the latter top frames and put them into a later top bow storage bag.

Thanks guys - here is the actual top.

If it won't fit my car, which I don't believe it will if I'm reading this correctly, any BCF'er in SoCal is welcome to it for free.

+1 on splitting a old one. Over a month of soaking the spring ends in various concoctions to get them to start moving.

That's a 67 and later fold up top frame, as it bolts to the B post. I honestly don't know if 67 on goes all the way to the end, though.
