Hello All TTA 2009 Charity Drive Pledge contributors!
Glenn Merrell here, one of the TTA Drive Coordinators. I thought you may be interested in the Staggering progress of the TTA driver Stag since its arrival at the Triumph Quarter Horse Farm in Hampshire Illinois.

Phase two of Project Stag went well. I want to thank everyone who showed up and helped. Your enthusiasm and willingness to take on one of the dirtiest tasks was truly appreciated. There was a flurry of activity as we were able to remove the engine and driveline. To Stag neophytes, there was amazement as the whole thing was lifted 10 feet into the air. A stubborn left side manifold and starter added about an hour to the extraction but we were in good shape. Details of the entire day will be published soon. The last truly dirty task is suspension.

Status:
STTAG lump on route to the ISOA Silver Lake Engine Development Facility where that team will do the evaluation for machining and rebuild. I will need costings for machine work. Prior to storage, previous owner stated excessive coolant loss and overheating. As Stagmeister surmised, there is a blown head gasket as there was coolant present in #6 cylinder. We are awaiting the David "Antoinette" Graham head removal tool from the Carolinas to facilitate that stage.
Next Step:
The weekend of 3/22 will be an off weekend since there is a carb rebuild clinic and Easter Sunday. We will continue on 3/30 (the project leader has a community charity event on that Saturday).
I need members of the electrical team and suspension team on 3/30. We will extract the suspension components and electrical. Suspension team needs transportation to take components to their respective restoration facilities for renewal. Please contact me if you have questions.
I would like to appoint a sub-team leader to each of the systems to help coordinate their members. Anyone wishing to take on the lead for their respective subsystem, contact me.
Cheers,
Stagmeister (a.k.a. Joe Pawlak)
Glenn again ...
As an interesting side note, and quite by coincidence to the original Stag located by the lists in Georgia, is that this white Stag is indeed, "Sapphire Blue" - at least that is what is in the trunk and engine bay, and under sides. It was resprayed white sometime in the past.
So the final color combination of this Stag will be Sapphire Blue exterior, Powder Blue interior, with an exterior color matched soft top. The hard top will also sprayed Sapphire Blue to match the chassis. If any of you have seen a Sapphire Blue Stag, you have probably noted they are quite stunning.
Look for an email to all the lists soon to answer the many questions about "Your Donations to Triumph Trans America 2009 Charity Drive made in North America".
