I need to sell one of them.I was trying to sell the 6,
but I know that they're going up in value,& if they do,I won't
be able to afford another one.
The GT,on the other hand,is a '67,supposedly the best
yearfor them,& I have other coupes that I can get going.
Just trying to weigh the pros/cons.

I'd keep the TR6, for the reason you stated, probably easier to pick up a B/GT later than a TR6 (although I have read articles of and on for years speculating that the B/GTs will go up, some speculators have been saying that for 20 years or so and it still hasn't happened). Also, if you have no other cars where the top goes down you need the TR6 for convertible fun. However, I was talking to a guy today that used to have a nice Porsche 914 and a nice Sprite, he said he always picked the Sprite when he went for a drive in one of the fun cars, so when it came time to sell he sold the Porsche, which one do you like to hop in and go for a spin in more?

If you bought those cars for an investment :greedy_dollars: then sell the one you'll get the most money back...now..not later.
If you bought those cars for enjoyment then keep the one you enjoy the most now.

Currently on Ebay are 35 TR6's and 8 MGB GT's. Only one of the GT's is a 67 or older.

Thanks for the replies.I never bought either as an investment.
I'd planned on selling the TR,& keeping the GT,but the TR seems like
the car that I'd regret most for selling.
I sold a Healey 100-6,back in the mid '70's,& about three years
later was looking for another convertible.Ended up buying a Lotus Elan
project that I sold 14 years later (it never ran),& bought the TR6.
I've decided that if I put a price on either, that I won't go much less.
if I sold either cheaply,& the market went way up,I'd be complaining constantly.
I also have a '78 Datsun B210 that's been in the garage for almost eight-
years, but I'd like to finish it & drive it before I part with it.
And then there's the '60 Ford Anglia, that's been in the garage for years,
but it's the one that I don't plan on selling.
And the '68 Cortina estate, that I also don't plan on selling at present, because
if I want another one,I probably won't find it - plus I have a garage full of Cortina MKII
parts.

I'd want a clear idea of how you are going to use them before making that decision, a BGT is a different sort of car to drive (a good one mind you)

Lots of good discussion. I've had both and loved both. A 69 TR6 (first year) that was a "finished" project in 1982 and a 74 1/2 B-GT bought new in 1975 . I even actually liked the big bumper guard on the chrome bumper look. Rare doesn't alway equate to valuable. I'm sure the GT is more rare, but is not the car typically wanted by someone looking for the LBC experience. I would think the market would be way better for the TR6 and they seem to just keep going up. Project TR6's are still surfacing and would be easier to replace later than the GT if you decided you missed it. It really depends on your reason for selling, what the condition of the cars is and why you own them to start with. It's a delima I'd like to have. I currently have a TR3 and would like to have IT, a TR6 and a MGB/GT and a... and a.

You mention that you need to sell one of them. Put both up for sale and let the market decide which one to sell. Doubtful both would sell on the same day. Keep the one that remains. I don't see any shortage of either car for sale.

I was at a show yesterday and there was a GT6 for sale - $12500....although I haven't followed the GT6 market closely, it seemed a little steep. The car was in good shape, but didn't seem pristine. I looked in Hemmings this morning and one that "needs work" (alot) was going for $3900. My daughter wanted me to buy it....she needs to stop spending my money :-D

GT6s dont really go for any more than a spitfire currently, and there have been a lot for sale recently in the north east. The GT6 for sale at the Newport show was more of a 'dream on' price. The car was an older resto, older repaint, had what looked like some rust on the back of the rockers, etc, and was realistically worth just half the asking price.
